About Latin American Studies
The Latin American Studies (LAS) is a masters specialization program under the School of Culture and Global Studies at Aalborg University.
This specialization allows students to select Latin America as an area of focus to meet their career goals. For some students it may lead to postgraduate studies, or a career in teaching and research, while for many others it will be the door-opening of a professional career in a number of areas of which Latin America is a central component, such as business and industry, international trade, government and international service, civil societies/NGOs, communicative function etc.
The curriculum of Latin American Studies is designed to provide a broad understanding of contemporary and historical issues in Latin America's development, as well as the scale of Latin America's impact on the world economy and global relations. The curriculum consists of a number of lectures at the masters levels aimed at introducing topics in a problem-based and interdisciplinary manner. Through this approach students will be capable of comprehending and analyzing Latin America related issues in a holistic and coherent combination.

Latin America in the Globalization Process (2nd semester)
- Ethnic divisions, nation building and indigenous rights
- Gender issues in contemporary Latin America
- Organizational culture in Latin America
- Doing business in Latin America
- Latin America in the global economy: results and challenges
- Latin American Development Strategies: national, regional and global aspects
- The Rise of Brazil and the existing world order.
